Who's Who Wednesday: Alfredo Linguini

One of my favorite characters in one of my favorite movies, it’s time to learn a little bit about Alfredo Linguini from Ratatouille. Besides his extremely hilarious and fun name, Linguini is a powerful character that teaches us a lot about friendship, believing in yourself, and group effort. Linguini is the son of Auguste Gusteau, the famous Paris chef. However, nobody knows of his relation, even Linguini, and so the awkward gawky garbage boy at Restaurant Gusteau feels as if there is no hope for him in any profession. He ruins a soup created in the kitchen but before it is served, Linguini meets his new and lifelong friend, Remy, the mouse chef.

Linguini was working to support himself and his mother, but she tragically dies at the beginning of the film, leaving Linguini alone to make something of himself in his Paris apartment. With Remy’s help, Linguini makes Gusteau’s famous once again and befriends a fellow cook name Colette who teaches him the ins and out of the kitchen and how to make delicious food. It’s not long before Linguini falls for Colette and Remy helps this along. The two eventually start a relationship.

Soon it is realized that Linguini is the true heir to Gusteau’s fortune, and he suddenly inherits the restaurant. Linguini, with the help of his rat friends, impress food critic Anton Ego. However, due to the rats in the kitchen, the restaurant is closed. Linguini becomes a waiter with Colette at a new bistro named La Ratatouille.

Linguini is a shy and lovable character trying to find his way in the world and with Remy and Colette’s help, it seems he finds it. Unfortunately, Linguini cannot be found at Walt Disney World as he has so much to do at La Ratatouille.
