Who is it we know who is practically perfect in every way?
Well, Mary Poppins of course!

Making her movie (musical!) debut in 1964 in Walt Disney’s adaption of Mary Poppins, the polite and proper nanny takes over the Bank’s family household becoming the caretaker of the two children, Michael and Jane. Mary Poppins was hired by George and Winifred Banks to replace their former nanny, Katie Nanna, once the kids drive her out due to their shenanigans. But nobody can scare away Mary Poppins, miss strong and confident. Mary Poppin’s is a sweet and caring woman who flies across the globe to help children who are in need of her.

Her vehicle of choice is her black magic umbrella which flies her everywhere she needs to go. Something special that Mary owns is her carpet bag which seems to be a bottomless pit as she pulls out lamps and other massive items to set up her room in the Bank’s home. This is handy for carrying all of her things while she’s flying through the air! While Mary is authoritative she is only doing what is best for Jane and Michael, teaching them how they can have fun while getting things done, like in the song “A Spoonful of Sugar”. Mary teaches the kids and their father that family is most important and to not worry and base your life around wealth and power for it’s better to be loving and generous. Jane and Michael run into Bert, a chimney cleaner/one-man band/artist who just so happens to know Mary. With a little convincing they all jump into one of Bert’s magical drawings and go on an adventure. Bert admires Mary and let’s her know in the song called “Jolly Holiday”.

Mary Poppins and her friend Bert can be found on Main Street, U.S.A., at the UK Pavilion in EPCOT, and can sometimes be seen at Hollywood Studios!
