When at Walt Disney World, there are so many sights, sounds and smells that bring a rush of wonderful memories. One sound that always brings me to wonderful memories both as a child, a young married adult and as a parent is the sound of a washboard and a simple spoon. This sound always brings me to the many times that I have gone to the Hoop-De-Doo Review at the Fort Wilderness Campground.
Anyone who has had a chance to attend this dinner show will most likely remember what the significance of the washboard and the spoon is. For anyone who has not attended, the Hoop-De-Doo is a dinner show that features music and laughs. There are six performers who bring this show to life three times each night. The food that is featured is all you can eat barbecue. Favorites such as fried chicken, ribs, corn bread and baked beans are brought to your table. For adults and children alike beverages are included. For those over twenty-one this includes, beer, wine and sangria. For dessert, strawberry shortcake is served.
The show is fun and includes audience participation. Even before guests received buttons for special events, the cast of the Hoop-De-Doo would make things special. I can remember my son when he was 18 months old enjoying more pieces of corn bread than I could count. He has always been a serious kid and this is definitely a time when he was able to get lost in the music and fun.
I would definitely recommend this dining experience for anyone who is not going to Walt Disney World for the first time. There is so much to see within Walt Disney World and the Hoop-De-Doo does take a few hours as it is not within one of the four parks. If you are using the Dining Plan, this meal will count as two table-service meals. For anyone who qualifies for a free dining plan this is a good opportunity. For those who are able to stay with a free dining plan, it might make more sense to pay separately for this meal. The cost is staggered based on your category of seating.
