Little Ones at Disney: Transportation

Owen's first time on a "Disney bus"
So when you're planning a Disney World vacation, one thing you will do is pick rides that are must for you. It may be Big Thunder Mountain, Spaceship Earth, Toy Story Midway Mania, or a plethora of others, but if you have little ones there are a few rides outside of the parks that they may love just as much. What I'm taking about is the transportation system that gets you around Walt Disney World, buses, boats and monorails.
Now, as an adult, you may see them as what they are, transportation from point A to point B, but to your little one they could end up being the favorite "attraction" of your trip. One of my son's favorite things to do at Disney World is to ride the "Disney buses." Before every trip we ask him what rides he wants to do and along with It's a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean, the Disney bus is always in his picks. A few trips back, we took the DVC tour and when you do that, they pick you up in a special red van just for the tours, we thought our son would enjoy the "Mickey van" but instead he flipped his lid that we weren't taking the Disney bus.
Being that we usually stay at a value or moderate resort, there is not much boat transportation that we use. We stayed at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness once and got to take the boat to Magic Kingdom. My son loved it, he called it a pirate ship. Being that we always stay on property when going to Magic Kingdom we don't go through the TTC so no ferry boats for us. One time we took a day trip and after parking we took the ferry boat over to the park. My son had a great time looking for birds and fish. He kept saying he saw sharks and dolphins too! (I'm pretty sure he didn't).
The Monorail is not only a great way to get between MK and Epcot and vice versa, it's a lot of fun for kids. Granted there isn't much to do on it, watching as all the cars drive below as you go from the TTC to Epcot is neat. Unfortunately one of the most fun things that little ones may enjoy you can't do anymore and that's riding up front.
Now as I said, these can all be fun for little ones, but they can be good for you too. Whether you are staying on property or not you can use them. Need a mid-day break but don't want to go back to your room, hop on the monorail and take a ride, there's AC and you can keep your little one in there stroller while they nap. If you drive to the parks and are staying on property take the bus back to the hotel for a mid-day break, you could nap on the bus too. So do your little ones like riding around on Disney buses or boats or the monorail? Do you sometimes take them on it just for fun? I would say if you never have you should plan it in your next trip. As always have a Magical day and see you real soon.
