Disney With Little Ones- Little Kids, Big Rides. What To Do? Rider Switch Option

  Walt Disney World is, for me, the ultimate family vacation and most of the rides and attractions are designed to be enjoyed by the whole family, no matter how small.  I've even seen people with babies that were just weeks old on some rides. Having said that, there are a handful of rides that do have height requirements that your little ones may not be able to go on and they are as follows:

  Magic Kingdom
Tomorrowland Speedway: 32" to ride along, 54" to drive alone
The Barnstormer: 35"
Big Thunder Mountain: 40"
Splash Mountain: 40"
Stitch's Great Escape: 40"
Space Mountain: 44"

  Epcot
Soarin': 40"
Test Track: 40"
Mission Space: 44"

  Hollywood Studios
Tower of Terror: 40"
Star Tours: 40"
Rock 'n' Rollercoaster: 48"

  Animal Kingdom
Kali River Rapids: 38"
Dinosaur: 40"
Expedition Everest: 44"
Primeval Whirl: 48"

  So what do you do if you want to ride but your kids aren't tall enough? Do you skip the ride all together? Do you split up and wait in line twice, which during the peak times could be a few hours of waiting and who wants to do that? Well that's where the Rider Switch comes into play. What is the Rider Switch you ask? Basically, this is when you have a child that isn't tall enough to ride a ride and your party goes on the ride and one person stays behind and watches the child. After the rest of the party is done you'll have a special rider switch ticket and get to go through the Fastpass line. All of the rides listed, except the Tomorrowland Speedway offer the Rider Switch. To obtain the Rider Switch ticket all you have to do is ask the Cast Member at the entrance of the ride and they will get you set up.

  Two good things about the Rider Switch is that it can be used in conjunction with a Fastpass and the Rider Switch ticket allows for 2 guest, so not only does the person who stays behind with the small child get to go, but they can also take one other person with them.  This can be a nice treat if you have a bigger kid too, because they will get to ride two times in a row.
