World of Color

While in Anaheim, one show not to miss is the World of Color.  This is a night show produced once or twice most nights at California Adventure.  The water in front of Paradise Pier becomes the stage on which this show is set.

The term World of Color harkens back to the television show that Walt Disney had originally conceived.  The show is reminiscent of the fountains in front of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas crossed with the projection capability that Disney mastered with Fantasmic.  Approximately thirty years ago, the Disneyland Hotel had featured a dancing water show in the fountains in the back corner of the resort.  This takes the elements of water, fire, music and familiar Disney images and brings them to life in a spectacular presentation.

The music and images is a tour through many of the wonderful Disney and Pixar productions throughout the years.  At times, there are simply fountains blasting water high above the audience with lights shining through the stream  In addition,  there are cartoon images projected onto the water and onto a screen in the middle of the California Screamin’ roller coaster.

There is a segment which features the music from the Pirates of Caribbean.  In addition to the water and music, there are blasts of fire that shoot out of the water.  The warmth of the fire can be felt around the water.

The show was definitely worth the wait.  There is viewing available around the water.  In addition there are fast passes available near the Grizzly River Run and packages available with various dining options.
